RDW digital are the digital printing division of Riley Dunn & Wilson Limited, the UK’s leading specialist bookbinders and conservators.

The business has been established for over 100 years and now employs nearly 80 specialist staff split between our book production factory in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and our paper and book conservation centre in Falkirk, Stirlingshire.

RDW Digital have invested in state-of-the-art printing and binding equipment specially designed for high quality, short run and on-demand book production.

At RDW we understand that all books are different and each title requires special attention. We are not in the business of mass-produced digitally printed books, rather we are focussed on providing a genuine and flexible short run alternative to traditional lithographic printing and binding techniques, with an array of bespoke finishing options.

Our main book printing facility uses the highly impressive, lithographic quality HP Indigo press, a world leader in liquid ink electrophotographic printing. With high resolution, fine definition printing and excellent four colour reproduction, the Indigo is an ideal press for digital book printing.

The press can achieve impressive speeds and even more impressive start up times, together with variable data options to allow personalisation and/or numbering for subscriber or limited editions.

The Company also uses the Minolta C252. This press is ideal for monchrome book printing on book woves.

RDW digital have one of the most extensively equipped on-demand book production binderies in the world, with well developed systems and staff fully trained to administer and produce production runs ranging from a single copy to a few thousand.

With over one hundred years of craft bookbinding experience and skills, the Company offers a truely unrivalled range of binding options to discerning customers.

RDW digital also provide a full suite of publishing services for societies, institutes and professional organisations.

We offer project manangement, authoring, editing, rights management, proof-reading, and the obtainment of image permissions.

Our design team will assist with typesetting, cover design and offer general assistance throughout the production and proofing process, whichever stage the project is at.

RDW can register titles with a unique ISBN and arrange for bibliographic data to be sent out to databases and suppliers including Nielsen Bookdata, Gardners, Bertrams, Amazon, Dawsons and other major booksellers as well as to academic library suppliers.

After a customer’s books are printed we can hold stocks, determine a minimum stock level with our system of automatic replenishment and fulfil trade and individual orders from our fulfilment centre at our Huddersfield factory.

We are also able to offer direct-to-consumer online purchasing with secure internet payment facilities, alongside other marketing and distribution solutions. RDW can process orders received online, by post, fax or telephone.

We provide a complete monochrome and colour short run book printing and binding service for trade and specialist publishers, university and academic libraries, schools, colleges, local history societies and other professional organisations.

RDW specialise in manufacturing small quantities of books, printed in singles or small batches on state-of-the-art digital printing presses on a wide range of specialist papers and boards.

We also provide commercial and trade printing and binding services for mainly local customers for brochures, stationery and advertising materials.
